Best Beauty Looks from the Met Gala

The Met Gala is like the Super Bowl of fashion. Celebrities get dolled and and strut their most outrageous gowns like peacocks trying to mate. This years theme was punk and while I am not going to even go to delve into fashion, (I’m letting you off the hook Kim Kardashian) I’m sharing my best beauty picks. Stay tuned tomorrow I will be sharing my WTF beauty moments. Best

Cara Delevinge with her greasy, smoked out eye and sexy tousled side part had the perfect I don’t give a fuck look. I’m secrectly obsessed with her bold brows, if you follow me on Pinterest it’s not a secret.

pa9f6vtrbleml9aijzrkj8zg-6fr5a9ltelnjl4sc2cAnne Hathaway showed up and shocked everyone with her Miley bleached blonde locks. Surprisingly she looks really good with her hair bleach blonde, it’s a breath of fresh air compared to her boring brown locks.

With all the smoked out eyes and nude lips it is refreshing to see Rooney Mara with deep plum lips. Her look is not an unusual departure from her red carpet looks.

I love her smoky metallic eye that wings out and her bold brows (obsession much with bold brows). I also love her crimped hair in a bun with the sparklely headband that I now want.

Last but not least is Emily Blunt. She reminds me of a modern day Jem sans the pink hair. I’m digging the pink liner, it does not wash her out. The Met Gala theme after all was punk.

Intensely hydrated with Burt’s Bees

This was my skin before trying Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration. Okay no not really its just a dramatic reenactment like something out of I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant, but you get the point that my skin was really dry. Enter in Burt’s Bees new line Intense Hydration.  Being a Bzz Agent I got to try the Cream Cleanser, Treatment Mask and Night Cream but there is also Day Cream and Eye Cream.

Intense Hydration line contain Clary Sage which is a tough plant in the Mediterranean that has the ability to adapt and retain moisture.  My favorite product of all 3 that I tried is the Cream Cleanser. It took off my makeup after a long day and did not leave my skin feeling stripped, dry or tight. If you are experiencing dry skin due to the winter months or just all year I would suggest you try out the Intense   Hydration line.

Jennifer Aniston’s big reveal

The world is finally excited we get to see Jennifer Aniston’s engagement ring in this new photo with her fiance Justin Theroux. The photo was taken over the weekend while the couple was in New Mexico. Forget the ring! Does any else see that bear claw of a clip on her purse? That’s what we really should be talking about.  Show me a photo of Jen wearing that clip out in public, now that’s a picture I would like to see. Who does she think she is Snooki?

Thoughts, Opinions, Concerns? I will be on Jennifer hair clip watch in the meantime.

Beauty Confessions

Ladies and gentlemen it is now time for beauty confessions. No we are not letting out our deepest darkest secrets in the Real World confessional this isn’t MTV. We all have some beauty confessions that we are hiding. “Me, I don’t have anything to confess”, as you hid that box of scrunchies.

I am ready to confess my biggest secret that many do not know about me and it even surprises me. I have never had a professional manicure or pedicure in a salon. That feels good to get it out. They only fancy thing I’ve done to my nails was get acrylics for my Junior prom which I hated. For Christmas my former roommate  and still bff gave me a gift certificate to a local salon to get my very first manicure and pedicure. I decided to treat myself to a pre birthday pampering and last week got my very first maincure and pedicure. Why the hell did I wait so long. Well one reason I bite my nails so my nails are usually too short and as for pedicures I not a big fan of people touching my feet. Well I think I will be making up for lost time.

My recently purchased 4 Butter London polishes from Coterie which have great exclusive deals. They happened to arrive before my birthday and I used Bluey on my toes and Knacked on my nails. I also got All Hail the Queen (pictured below) and Hardwear P.D. Topcoat (not pictured).

Do you have any beauty confessions? Now is the time to spill. Off to the salon to get another mani/pedi!

      Wine lips

Image

Summers winding down, time to pack up those flip flops and bring out the killer boots! Same goes for lipstick, put away the hot pink stain in replace for some deep merlot, not the wine silly. I have a feeling though I still might be rocking my Candy Yum Yum in fall. Crimson and violet lips are all rage for fall just looking at these leading ladies above right on trend. Here are some great shades for all wallet sizes.

Revlon’s Colorstay Mineral Lip Glaze in Overtime Wine is a great wallet friendly wine color that lasts up to 8 hours. It keeps your lips hydrated all day long.

Tom Ford’s Private Blend Lipstick shades have got it going on. The shades Black Orchid and Violet Fatale are perfect shades to take you right in to fall. The price is a little steep at $48 bucks a pop but you won’t be disappointed.

Pixi’s Tinted Brilliance Balm in Bitten Berry is a tinted lip balm gel that reacts to the pH level of your lips giving you your own personalized lip color. Once the balm wears off you are left with a lip stain, no need to worry about reapplying.

Hair Color Nightmare

Hair Color Nightmare:

So, have you ever had one of those accidents with hair color and it comes out nowhere near what you want/expect it to?

Well, I have had PLENTY of my fair share of nightmares.

I took cosmetology in high school and saying I was experimental with hair color would have been an understatement. Let’s just say, I started cosmo with shoulder length hair and ended it with a pixie cut. We live and we learn right?? Apparently I needed another lesson.

Last night, I was doing my lovers hair and normally when you bleach out the roots, it will be uneven. So then the next natural step would be to tone it to even out the color. BUT BEWARE! If you are toning with a blonde, always use a neutral. I repeat, always use a neutral.

The lover is obsessed with ash blonde’s and being the good girlfriend I am, I picked up some ash ash blonde as a surprise. So I proceed to bleach the Mohawk and then put the color on it after. After processing, I am rinsing the hair out and busted out into a fit of laughter/mortification/disbelief. The tips were BLUE. I mean, how does blonde hair color turn the hair blue? This question racked my brain over and over again.

Well, let me answer that question for you. After bleaching, the hair is extremely porous and is more likely to deposit the base color of whatever shade you use. Ash bases are blue which equals light blue tips.

I was pretty sure I was going to be murdered, but after quite a bit of laughter and applying more bleach for about 2 minutes, the blue lifted out. The hair is damaged, but at least it isn’t blue. I have now learned an extremely valuable lesson and will hopefully *crosses fingers* never make that mistake again!

Little Box of Wonderful

Hey Beauties,

I am a self-proclaimed beauty addict and there is nothing I love more than beauty samples. Now that I work at Sally Beauty, I am constantly walking out of the door with different things to try. But still, I am unsatisfied. I was doing some research for work and read an article about two Harvard school graduates who started a small, online only company in 2010 that put beauty samples into a small box that ships to your door once a month. Fast forward to 2012 and Birchbox has become a million dollar business.

I saw this and thought….1. Why haven’t I heard about this?? and 2. Why am I not signed up?? For $10 a month you get 5 luxury beauty samples. That is one nasty lunch at Taco Bell.

So I promptly go to the website and Birchbox has become so popular that I had to be put on a waiting list. I couldn’t believe it. Such a genius idea and service and I was so far behind that I had to be put on a waiting list! I had to wait one long, grueling month and I received the golden ticket (or in this day and age, email) alerting me that I could now subscribe to Birchbox. I was beyond thrilled and couldn’t wait to receive my first shipment.

I received it today and here are a few of things inside!

If you are a beauty addict like me and want an inexpensive way to test out premium beauty products, then I highly recommend Birchbox. It might take a little while to get subscribed, but it is well worth the wait!
